Popayán: The White City

I only spent one night here, but I would have been happy for many more. It was incredibly beautiful during the night, the buildings lit with different colored lights, and during the day too. The constant pedestrian life in the streets had a calm, cosmopolitan air. There were astounding churches around every other corner. The owner of the hostel where I stayed (Park Life) was a jovial Spanish man. I enjoyed a glass of wine with a lovely couple from L.A. In the morning I left, not without a twinge of sadness, but also excited to be covering some ground. It's a long continent. I'm still closer to Boston than to my destination.
